It was a casual event, and we were there for 2 days.</span><br /></p><br /><br /><p align="center"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">The first day was....interesting. On the way up, we had a blowout on the trailer, and had to limp to the track on only 5 of 6 trailer wheels!! Wonderful weather (although the evenings were a bit chilly), and a great crew made for a super race weekend....it made the drama bearable...</div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center">As every racer knows, packing always takes at least 3x as long as you plan for...we were no exception to that rule. Thursday we headed North....for a casual drive up to Monterey. It was so casual, that our caravan made it into the racetrack at around 10pm! Try being quiet parking a 48' trailer in the dark! </div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center">After a quick dinner at Denny's - I believe ALL racers develop a taste for Denny's as they are more than likely the only place open in the middle of the nite after pulling an 18hr day at the track - we headed to the hotel.</div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center">Friday, we had some last minute prep to do at the track - oh, and the car owner brought us the "special" exhaust he needed installed to run for sound requirements at Laguna. Overall - a relatively easy day at the track...although the hints of clutch problems were sneaking up....we needed a set of clutch cables - for a GT3 Cup - which are special cables.... you see where this is going?</div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center"></div><p align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5470948928175223170" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHFfL0hsht8YyKbnKxNJC0eMbUj0T_SY7Mg8h4ATyXlQzU5bPpMk99ZoeH1hRMRBA9b8PY1yHfd3eyRnk1ClgxRt5xEQ9m1PXTWcLimzG3jmIxVoWnIfGI9dmzePde2dUAXjZdnGhuUlXP/s320/IMG_2976.jpg" /></p><p align="center">Saturday was where the drama (well minor drama) kicked in. Clutch issues ALL DAY LONG...we were adjusting the clutch cables, then when that quit working as a "fix" then we moved on to trying to find a special hose....WAY more difficult than you think...finally a used replacement hose showed up....that worked for a while....but it didn't last...</p><div align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5470954473239875090" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzXXU3617-cPqKyZxU8Yawayh25Fj033MuDW9bsfVnccVsKOLxkJcSNhXlMKsicBxNAOWU3nSspIaChR8Tgq5ASc0SOFgzSkh-Ovbh3kxr-ElsrrFKYFZ37ieidNXrrSK62Zr2nw9yyIrN/s320/fix+cables.jpg" /></div><p align="center"> However we were able to make the podium!! We took 3rd place in our race on Saturday!! WTG crew & Good job driving John!</p><p align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5470955281023328274" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiackZi6p-ViuWc8jrVkst1fpVR5yQLFxAGYH8Dh44sJrYj8aXMGKgdDA9pe6VuiEwKAslTD-9D3uu1Bmj81S_SokQa5o7qIZd3-rRk6-TDQR-Jg2zXRsn1uR6zbluGL0Oda1CzwrfZEMA/s320/99+impound+2.jpg" /><br />Unfortunately Sunday we had to simply park the car....all our hard work was just not enough to get it back on the track. We needed parts, and Sundays are not the day to look for them. We all got to see the races from other spots than the front straight....that's always fun...and eat lunch before we started to pack things up to head home....</p><p align="center"><br />Looking forward to the next race event! We were back at Willow Springs Raceway ( <a href="http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/">http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/</a>) on Jan 31 for a S1 Events day. (<a href="http://www.s1events.com/">http://www.s1events.com/</a>) We had Chad and his 996 sign up, and Chimeren and Taylor came along. I also convinced my bud Stacy to come up with me and hang out and take lots of pictures. </div><br /><div align="center">Phil, the GS car owner came up as well.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center">We had a new pro driver, Shields Bergstrom, fly out to meet with us and to test the blue GS car on the track. The S1 Events team, has Craig Stanton (<a href="http://www.craigstanton.com/">http://www.craigstanton.com/</a> ), Nathan Swartzbaugh (<a href="http://www.nathanswartzbaugh.com/">http://www.nathanswartzbaugh.com/</a> ), and Drew Stavely to do all the instruction for their events.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center">This was only the 2nd event for S1, but they had like 40 entrants! What a great turnout for them! Those entrants that brought their own cars, brought some pretty ones! There were a number of Porsche's there, GT3 street, 996, RSR, and others. There were a couple of Lotus, and Ferrari's there as well. There was even an Audi R8! What a bunch of great marques assembled together for the day.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center">GYM (<a href="http://www.glennyeemotorsports.com/">http://www.glennyeemotorsports.com/</a>) loaned about 15 driver suits to S1 for their drivers and a couple helmets as well. Throughout the day, you could see GYM blue driver suits running around.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center">Lunch was great! They have prime rib with all the fixings! The line was long, but moved quickly as everyone wanted to dig in to the yummy food. At lunch, we had a little surprise for Chad's daughter - it was her birthday. She turned 14! We had a cake for her and Glenn & I gave her one of our retired crew shirts signed by all the pros at the track! (I understand, that the Jonas Brothers poster has now had to find a new home on her wall at home) Craig received a small gift from us too. Because he has worked with us for a few years now, and is just such a fabulous person and friend, we had one of our retired crew shirts embroidered with his name for him.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center">I made sure Stacy got to get a couple rides on the track. She got to ride with Chad in his 996, and Jim Swartzbaugh gave her a ride in his Porsche street RS. Phil, the GS car owner got to have Nathan take him for a ride in the street RS, and after putting a passenger seat in the GS (borrowed from Chad), Craig gave him a ride in his own car!</div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center">Shields had a successful first time in Phil's car. A couple of his sponsors showed up to watch him test the car. Glenn installed the cameras for the data system, and Shields was off and running. Let's hope he (& his sponsors) will want to rent the car for some of the Koni Challenge races this season (fingers crossed)<br /></div><br /><div align="center">At the end of the day, everyone had a great time. Lots of track time, good food, good friends and many laughs.
